Venetic Sessions: Untamed Carols

December 23, 2023 | Șura Culinară, Șomartin

In December 2023, the Untamed Carols project returned to Șomartin, this time hosted by Șura Culinară – a warm, welcoming space filled with atmosphere and resonance.

Part of the Venetic Sessions series, the concert once again brought forward a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Romanian carols – a project that, for over 12 years, has explored the vibrant dialogue between tradition and modernity.

A carefully curated selection of ancient carols was reimagined through modern instrumentation and a minimalist aesthetic built on simplicity, balance, and expressive coherence.

The Untamed Carols album, reissued in 2017 by the Greek record label Thirsty Leaves Music, continues to be praised internationally as one of the most original Christmas albums — one that transcends both genre and season.

The evening concluded with a vinyl-only listening session curated by Vlad Mihăescu aka LEJER, wrapping up the event in a refined, soulful, and intimate atmosphere.

Venetic Sessions III reaffirmed Șomartin as a meeting ground for people, traditions, and contemporary sound – a place where carols come alive as shared experience.
