23 December 2022 | Evangelical Church of Cincșor
On 23rd December 2022, the Evangelical Church of Cincșor hosted the second edition of Venetic Sessions, featuring a new performance of the Untamed Carols project — a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Romanian Christmas carols.
With a history spanning over 12 years, the project explores how tradition and modernity can coexist within a shared musical language. Carefully selected ancient carols were reimagined through minimalist instrumentation and a refined sonic aesthetic focused on simplicity and coherence.
The Untamed Carols album, re-released in 2017 by the Greek record label Thirsty Leaves Music, has been praised by international reviewers as one of the most original Christmas albums — transcending both genre and season.
After the concert, the audience was invited to share a glass of wine and join an open discussion about Christmas rituals with Maria Balabaș and Călin Torsan, held in the library of the former Cincșor school.
The artistic evening was complemented by a small local fair featuring cultural, artisanal, and culinary products, turning the event into a warm and meaningful community gathering.
Venetic Sessions II continued the path set by the first edition in Șomartin, reaffirming the bond between music, place, and people — a living carol beyond time.
